Carbon Limit empowers cement and concrete manufacturers to deliver sustainable solutions for the construction industry while significantly reducing their carbon footprint.
Carbon Limit’s CaptureCrete® is an innovative solution that combines Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology with CO2 mineralization, putting carbon-capture technology directly into the hands of cement & concrete manufacturers.
This dual serving solution not only reduces concrete’s carbon footprint, it also tackles existing emissions, by capturing CO2 from our atmosphere and storing it into the concrete, permanently.
With this unique mechanism, every time CaptureCrete® is used in concrete, it generates high quality carbon credits of 1000+ year permanence.
CaptureCrete® is a proprietary blend of natural minerals and CO2-reactive materials that absorbs and permanently sequesters atmospheric CO2 in concrete, via mineralization.
Carbon Footprint Reduction
Can replace up to 30% of traditional Portland Cement.
Carbon Capture
Captures CO₂ directly from the atmosphere.
Permanent Storage
CO₂ is stored in concrete as solid carbonates for 1000+ years.
Enhanced Durability
The carbonation process strengthens the concrete, enhancing its durability & lifespan.
Ease of Use
Easily integrated into existing concrete production processes.
Generates Carbon Credits
High quality removal and avoidance credits, providing additional revenue streams.
CaptureCrete® is available in two forms, designed to harmonize with a wide spectrum of concrete products and mix designs.
A drop-in admixture solution is dosed between 0.5 and 2.0% by mass of cementitious, giving concrete mixes enhanced carbon capture & performance capabilities.
Up to 10% potential cement reduction
A Supplementary Cementitious Material that can replace up to 30% of conventional cement, lowering concrete’s carbon footprint & enhancing its ability to capture atmospheric CO₂.
Up to 30% CO2 avoidance
Our journey begins with a collaborative meeting where we align your project’s goals and expectations with our projected value proposition, or “Projected Customer Minimum Margin". Together, we set the foundation by outlining our common "rules of engagement”, completing all documentation requirements, establishing the success criteria necessary to confirm and reach product fulfillment, while ensuring the most efficient use of your company's resources from day one.
Once the business agreement is in place, we collaborate to develop a detailed testing program tailored to your targets. This includes reviewing specific testing protocols, planning for material requirements, and planning for equipment and resources needed for testing, and concrete and carbonation sampling and manipulation requirements. We aim to set a strong foundation for effective performance assessments.
Once the testing program has been confirmed and agreed upon, we ship materials for performance testing at your site. Whether through laboratory or field-based trials, producers execute performance testing. Concrete performance testing shall follow the typical benchmarks defined for ready mix concrete quality control testing, while carbonation testing will follow specific benchmarks to ensure optimal results. Our technology and support will ensures that your project progresses smoothly, regardless of scope changes.
After testing is completed, we analyze the technical results (including among others, strength gains and carbonation) and present to You our applied technology benefits. We review the original “Projected Customer Minimum Margin” and incorporate the technical results from the execute testing, and generate a revised value proposition, or "Confirmed Customer Minimum Margin”, ensuring the minimum expectations are met - or exceeded - to proceed with fulfillment (adjusting commercial terms if necessary). This step solidifies the optimal approach moving forward.
Finally, we embark on the journey of product fulfillment and support, ensuring data integration between us to process, validate and commercialize credit for net proceeds sharing, as well as ensuring a seamless product delivery program, and post-sale technical support. Our post-sale technical support continues will continue to drive efficiencies and innovation, allowing your operations' to rapidly - yet sustainably - increase the utilization of our technology, generating larger economical benefits, increasing your competitive advantage, and ensuring continuous improvement of your bottom line performance.
Concrete made with CaptureCrete® actively attracts CO₂ pollution from the surrounding atmosphere and stores it permanently via CO₂ mineralization.
Carbon capture and sequestration in concrete using CaptureCrete® can reach as much as 100 kg of CO2 per ton of concrete.
Employing CaptureCrete® SCM also offsets the CO2 emissions of the replaced conventional cement. In total, using CaptureCrete® could potentially reduce the concrete's CO2 footprint by as much as 75%.
